AMPERG Alto Adige Lagrein Riserva - Rich, Extroverted, Chocolaty
VARIETAL: Lagrein 100%
AREA: Grapes come from the South Tyrolean Unterland, an ideal location thanks to its porphyry soils.
CULTIVATION: Guyot
Wine description : Lagrein, a classic South Tyrolean character, dense and concentrated and almost rustic in a pleasant way; with maturity it reveals a certain elegance and a velvety structure.
VINIFICATION: Careful harvesting after a year of hard work in the vineyard is the prerequisite to begin the first step of pressing. After the grapes have been carefully destemmed, the must is placed in fermentation vats. After about two weeks, we make the first racking and press the skins very lightly. The malolactic fermentation takes place in wooden barrels. The next 12 months the young wine matures in the barells with frequent stirring of the fine lees. Around January of the following year, the wine is bottled and then put on the market towards the end of the year.
AROMA: Spicy aroma with scents of leather, tar and cocoa, but also floral nuances.
COLOUR: Medium deep, intense cherry red colour with ruby glints and a garnet red impression.
TASTE : Full, fairly mild flavor with an "earthy" finish and noticeable tightly knit tannins.
PAIRING: Red meats, game, cheese.
