Cocktail Recipe: GIOSTRA D'ALCOL With Cedrata Tassoni
GIOSTRA D'ALCOL – Origin: Turin
Meaning: (Alcoholic Merry-go-round).
Impress at your next cocktail party with this essential Italian Apertivo drink. It is a balanced drink with a great bouquet and to this day it is the only cocktail in the world featuring Barbera d’Asti.
This mixed-drink was invented by the futurist painter Enrico Prampolini. This poly-drink was officially presented at the Paris Colonial Exhibition in 1931, under the name of “Carousel d’Alcool”.
The drink is a shuffled version of the spritz, made with Campari, Barbera d’Asti wine and cedrata, A more modern rendition has been made, which is sweetened with a touch of honey syrup, forgoes the classic cheese and chocolate garnishes in favor of a simple orange slice. The dark ruby-red, the zesty flavour of Cedrata Tassoni, the bitterness of Campari and the distinctive taste of Barbera d’Asti blend perfectly together.
